After a year of sleep hell, my baby boy finally sleeps through the night. He had gotten so bad at 6 months (up every hour!!!) that we finally had to do some sleep training. It took him quite a while to catch on to sleeping 10/11 hours at night. The last two months, he has slept through the night but woken up at 5 am. So needless to say, it's been awful. I've been dreaming of this day in which he goes to bed at 7 and gets up at 6/6:30. Well, that day has been here for the last month or so, but I am sleeping worse than ever. I consistenly wake up at 5 am anyway, even though he doesn't. Now, the past couple of weeks it's 4 am or even 3. When I wake up, I can rarely go back to bed quickly. Usually I'm either up for the day (yes, at 4 am) or I can fall asleep after an hour of trying. I used to be the kind of person who slept in until 7 am every day. I used to go to bed between 10 and 11 and get up around 6:30/7:00. Now I'm falling asleep at 9:15 because I'm so exhausted from waking up and not going back to sleep. Did this happen to any other moms after getting through months of a terribly sleeping baby. I didn't have this issue with my daughter, as she slept through the night at aroun 3 months and would sleep 10 hours from the time I put her to bed (usually 10 or so). So my sleep was only disrupted for a couple of months with her. With my son it's been a year. He will be one in 2 weeks. And only the last month or so has he actually slept through the night until 6 or 6/30. But now that he does, my sleep is worse than ever. Also, I'm wide awake when I wake up so then can't fall back to sleep. I used to be able to wake up, look at the clock, go, oh, 4:12. Why am I up? And fall instantly back to sleep. Now it's like my body is so used to having to spring up to deal with the baby at all hours of the night that I wake up totally awake. Did anyone else have this problem? I've tried eating everything that every insomnia web site says to eat before bed and also all the relaxation techniques mentioned. I just lie there doing a relaxation technique for an hour. Thanks for your input!... Read More »
